GOLF NEWS-Agui bags the ICEALION King of the Course title in hotly contested competition at Nandi Bears Course;

Home Club’s John Agui has all the reasons to celebrate after bagging the 2024 ICEALION King of the  Course Golf series title in a tournament played at the par 72 Nandi Bears Golf Course in Nandi County on Saturday.
Playing off handicap 6 Agui survived on a count back score of 38 Stable ford points to emerge the overall winner beating a team of 140 golfers.

“I have been training hard for this tourney and today I used all my skills in this beautiful course to emerge top. I would like to thank my playing partners for the fun we had while playing, the Club for hosting the event and ICEALION for bringing the event here, “said Agui.
He had tied on the same score with Club mate handicap 13 Lenox Kikoech who settled for the Member winner’s slot, while their colleagues handicap 19 Moses Muge on 37 points and handicap 22 Vincent Rugut with 36 points were the runners up and third placed respectively.
ICEALION group sponsored the day long 18 holes 5th leg tournament in this year’s 8th Edition of the series that also featured Golfers from Kericho, Kitale, Kakamega, Machakos and others Clubs across the Country.
The Lady winner on 36 points was handicap 20 Gorety Mutai and handicap 26 Eileen Jepchumba brought 34 points to claim the runners up spot.
Nick Mwai from Kitale playing off handicap 18 brought 37 points to win the Guest prize while Kakamega’s handicap 4 Julius Oketch who had a score of 33 was the runners up and the third slot was scooped by handicap 18 Joseph Watunu from Eldoret who had a score of 31 points.
The Staff prize was won on 25 points by handicap 29 Jane Munyori and James Sahi with 30 points was the Senior winner.
Nandi’s handicap 38 Benson Barsulai won the Handicap prize on 33 points while handicap 40 Lawi Mbira from Machakos brought a score of 31 points to claim the runners up spot and home Club’s handicap 18 Lydia Jebichi was the best effort winner on 20 points.
Club Captain Isaac Kuto said the day’s tournament was successful and thanked ICEALION for their support promising and players for turning up in large numbers.

ICEA LION Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Philip Lopokoiyit, extended his deepest gratitude to the organizers, the management of the Club, and the incredible players who have come together to make this event a reality.

He pointed out the Company’s commitment to sustainability is unwavering and that their active involvement in initiatives that promote sustainable insurance practices reflects their resolve to contribute positively to the global challenge of sustainability.
“This evening we have concluded today’s tournament by planting trees around the Golf course to not only enhance our operational integrity but also champion the cause for a sustainable future for all, “said Lopokoiyit.
Earlier on Friday, ICEALION held a Club Nite at Kericho Golf Club where the CEO further assured Golfers of the Company’s commitment to social responsibility.
This he noted reflected in their ongoing sponsorship of the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) by investing in Junior Golf to nurture the next generation of talent, providing them with opportunities to develop their skills and passion for the game in a supportive environment.
The series has so far been played at Machakos, Thika Greens Golf Resort, Ruiru Sports Club, Nanyuki Spors Club, Eldoret, and Nandi Bears.
It will next move to Karen Country Club in August before the grand finale at Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa County on October,26th.
