Home Golfer Phoebe Makasi beat a team 150 Golfers to win the 2024 ‘The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya’ (ICPAK) golf tournament played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club course in Mombasa County on Thursday.
Playing off handicap 34, Phoebe conquered the course recording an excellent 43 stable ford points to emerge the day’s overall winner and celebrates her maiden victory of the season.
“The Course is playing well but I struggled on with my game to emerge the day’s best. Iam thrilled for the victory and grateful to the sponsors, the Club, Organizers and my team flight for the successful tournament. I shall indeed continue training hard to record more victories before end of the year and watch out the space,” said Makasi.

Handicap 2 William Kaguta was the gross winner on a six over par 77 gross while handicap 23 Willy Sang with 39 points and handicap 18 Dhanji Pindolia on 38 points were the Men winner and runners up respectively.

Prisca Jebet playing off handicap 23 recorded an excellent 42 points beating handicap 21 Grace Kwamboka to the runners up slot by a two points difference.
The Best senior prize on 35 points was scooped by handicap 21 Aaron Kikuvi while handicap 12 Rasmeet Kaur recorded 37 points to emerge the Best Junior.

Saidimu Terra playing off handicap 11 brought 36 points to win the ICPAK Member’s prize and handicap 19 James Gathairu was the runners up after carding 35 points.
The daylong 18 holes tournament was supported by ICPAK whose 3,500 members from the Country and the East African Region were attending their week long 41st annual seminar at the Sarova White sands Beach Resort and Spa hotel in Mombasa since Monday.


The Seminar which was officially opened by Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula on Tuesday ended on Friday.
ICPAK Chairperson Philip Kakai flanked by among other Council Members Georgina Malombe and Hesbon Omollo thanked the golfers for attending in large numbers despite a week day and the Club for hosting the successful tournament.
“We are happy for the big turnout despite a week day and the Club for maintaining a pristine Course and We shall be back here next year. Congratulations to the winners and those who did not win for putting a strong fight. But for us who played, we are all winners, “said Kakai.
Club Captain Dinesh Sasan in turn thanked ICPAK for bringing the event to Nyali and promised that their partnership with the Accountants Body will continue to grow stronger and bigger.
