Eldoret-based Businessman Amos Butit was crowned the overall winner of the second leg of the 2023 KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the Eldoret Golf Club on Saturday evening.
The handicap 18 golfer Butit carded 40 stable ford points to beat 112 players despite a heavy downpour during the day that made it difficult to navigate the course.
Speaking after his win, Butit said, “I started off on the wrong foot, playing terribly in the first three holes but I managed to up my game as we progressed. I had an incredible four-ball team who were not only competitive but also encouraging. In the second nine, I had a birdie, 6 bogeys and 7 pars. Looking forward to tournaments to come, this win has given me more reason to play golf.”
Anand Lakini playing off handicap 5 carded 19 points in the first nine, and 20 points in the back nine to clinch the overall men’s winner award with 39 points.
Caroline Koech was named the lady winner of the day having carded 18 points in the first nine, and 20 points in the second nine to take home the award with 38 points.
In the junior category, handicap 19 golfer Emmanuel Mbatia managed to see off all his competitors to emerge victorious with 33 points.
Scola Onsongo who had a stellar performance during the first leg of the tournament at Vetlab Sports Club managed to defend her crown winning the Staff category award with 35 points while Michael Chebii carded 34 stableford points to win the guest winner prize.
A group of Philip Meli, Gilbert Chebii, Grace Mary, and Jane Koech scooped the team of the day award carding 110 points and will participate in the grand finale in November.
While Tony Chemweno won the longest drive in the men’s category and Cynthia Chelugui claimed the same in the women’s category.
The tour will head to Limuru Country Club for its third leg this coming weekend before the Railway Golf Club edition in Nairobi County.

While in the same day handicap 2 Victor Maiyo returned 42 points to emerge the overall winner of the Captain’s prize (David Biegon) played at the Kericho Golf club.
Tobias Messo playing off handicap 21 returned 40 count back score points to win the runners up slot beating handicap 22 Jotham Wanjohi to the third slot on the same points as handicap 26 Dr.Keneth Sigilai won the Men’s prize on 38 points.
While handicap 15 Lydia Jebichi celebrated her 39 points to grab the Lady’s title ,three points ahead of runners up placed handicap 18 Eunice Korir.
And at Machakos Golf Country Club also in the same day, it was a celebration for handicap 18 Faustine Maithya after carding 41 points to emerge the overall winner of the Gen.Musomba golf tournament.
The Member winner was handicap 14 Enock Kimeu on 40points while handicap 19 Dr.Michael Kamala with 38points and handicap 16 Jackson Mbaluka who had 37points were the runners up and third placed respectively.
SGT Allan Barassa playing off handicap 19 returned 38 points the KDF winner beating handicap 13 Joseph Waigwa to the runners up on a seven points difference and taking the third slot on 25 points was Maj.Richard Mumo.
Lady winner was handicap 31 Alice Abere who had a score of 34points while Alex Mutia playing off handicap 6 won the Guest prize on 34points and the Senior prize was won by handicap 20 Jones Nzau on 35points.
