SPORTS NEWS-KCB Supports Musingu in the Schools ongoing 2024 East Africa Championships;

National Boy’s Football Runners-up Musingu High School has received a massive boost from KCB in the 2024 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) competition currently ongoing in Mbale, Uganda.
KCB donated training equipment and new kits to the Scorpions and the team has been drawn in pool B alongside St. Julian High School (Uganda), Amus College School (Uganda), APE Rugunga Secondary School (Burundi), and Kalangala Secondary School (Tanzania).

Musingu Coach Brendan Mwinamo said, “The boys are ready for the East Africa games. We have been training in hot conditions to build stamina ahead of the grueling tourney. We have also worked on our weaknesses in the offensive and defensive units so, I believe we will have a good outing in Uganda.”


The team departed for Uganda after a 10-day camp at the school where other teams that qualified for the East African games have also been camping at Musingu High in preparation for the week-long tourney.

KCB, a regional powerhouse in the Sports sponsorship arena has injected over KSh. 1.5 million in payment of fees for the student footballers at Musingu High School and additionally, the Bank has invested in Football equipment, and jerseys for the team since partnering a year ago.


Chief Principal Musingu High School, Bernard Lukuya said, “We are grateful to KCB for giving back to the community by supporting the vulnerable students from humble backgrounds to facilitate their education. This partnership underscores the value of sports and education in nurturing talent and progressing academic excellence. We look forward to the team’s success in Uganda.”


Apart from football, there will also be action in Basketball (3X3 and normal Basketball), Netball, Rugby (7’s and 15’s), Handball, athletics, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, Table Tennis and Badminton.
The teams that qualified to represent Kenya during the Term Two Games are Highway, Musingu and St Joseph’s Kitale (boys’ football), Butere, Nyakach and St Joseph’s Kitale (girls’ football), Bwake, Vihiga Boys, St Mary’s Yala and Kisii School (boys’ rugby 7s), St Joseph’s Kitale, Kinale Girls, St Theresa’s and Nyagechenche (girls’ rugby 7s) among others.
KCB Bank footprint in Sports support in the country is expansive and cuts across various sports disciplines and the Bank has its Sports brand assets that include the KCB Women Volleyball Club, KCB Football Club and KCB Rugby Club besides other Sports including Chess, Athletics, and Golf.
