Royal Nairobi Golf Club’s par-72 championship course witnessed a masterclass in consistency on Friday as Elizabeth Njau, playing off handicap 21, returned an impressive 46 stableford points to emerge the overall winner in the coveted Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) golf day.
Njau beat a massive field of 175 players drawn from Kenya’s corporate boardrooms, investor community and golf fraternity, in what was more than just a sporting event, but was KPC’s first major stakeholder engagement since its historic listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
“I am delighted to emerge as the overall winner. It was a competitive and enjoyable day on the course, and I am grateful for the opportunity to play alongside fellow golfers. This victory is special to me, and I appreciate Kenya Pipeline Company for bringing us together through sport and creating an opportunity for us to build lasting relationships,” noted Njau.
The tournament came at a significant moment in KPC’s corporate journey as it was listed on the NSE on 9th, March 2026, marking a transformational milestone that expanded public participation and ushered the state-owned energy transporter into a new era of public accountability.
While Njau stole the show, the competition was fierce across all divisions, where the winners’ leader board was a day of brilliance.
Edwin Kinisu playing off a razor-sharp handicap of 5, won the men’s category with a solid 44 points, displaying the precision of a single-handicap player.
In the ladies’ section, Patsy Kihiu claimed the title with 45 points playing off handicap 32, just one-point shy of the overall winning score.
In Division four, handicap 32 Samuel Nganga won with 43 points while handicap 17 Lincoln Ireri finished as the men’s runner-up with 43 points and handicap 25 Emmah Omwenga was the ladies’ runner-up, scoring 42 points off handicap 25.
The sponsor categories added corporate flair with handicap 19 Edwin Omolo claiming the sponsor winner’s award with 39 points, while handicap 46 Belinda Mulindi finished as sponsor runner-up with 37 points and Joel Mugo playing off handicap 12 took the best effort award after returning 13 points in a display of perseverance that drew applause.
The technical prizes showcased pure power and accuracy, where Kamoza Longwe won the men’s longest-drive contest, while Penny Wambui took the ladies’ longest-drive award.
Denis Kirui and Caroline Kadikinyi won the men’s and ladies’ nearest-to-the-pin categories, respectively. And Samwel Misoi of Total Energies won the Hidden Hole category, capping a day where energy sector rivals shared the fairway.
KPC Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Pius Mwendwa said the listing has redefined how the company relates with its publics.
“Kenya Pipeline Company’s listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange ushered in a new era in our engagement with shareholders, customers, partners and the public, reinforcing our commitment to transparency, accountability and sustainable value creation,” said Mwendwa.
“This event allows us to connect with our stakeholders away from the boardroom, enabling us to strengthen existing partnerships and build new relationships. As a listed company, we remain focused on delivering value to our shareholders while continuing to provide safe, reliable and efficient petroleum transportation and storage services,” he added.
For KPC, the Golf Day is strategic business and as a publicly listed company mandated to provide safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective transportation, storage and distribution of petroleum products from the Port of Mombasa to inland markets in Kenya and the broader East African region, stakeholder trust is its pipeline.
To deliver on this mandate, KPC maintains an extensive network of approximately 1,342 kilometers of pipeline, together with strategically located storage, pumping and loading facilities.
The system has a combined capacity of approximately 14 billion liters of petroleum products annually, making it the lifeline of Kenya and Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, eastern DRC and South Sudan.
The listing expanded that lifeline to ordinary Kenyans who are now shareholders and events like Royal Nairobi allow KPC to demystify the pipeline business, answer investor questions informally, and reinforce its promise of transparency.
From the first tee to the 18th green, Friday at Royal Nairobi was not just about stableford points, it was about a newly listed giant learning to play a new game, the game of shareholder value, where partnerships are as important as pipelines.
