The race for the 49th NCBA Kenya Amateur Stroke Play Championship title intensified on Friday as an exceptional display of golf at Royal Nairobi Golf Club saw the leaderboard tighten dramatically heading into the weekend’s decisive rounds.
With the completion of the second round, the Championship field has now been trimmed to the top 48 players and ties, who are battling for the prestigious title over the final 36 holes.
After 36 holes of fiercely contested action, Harish Shashwat, Kamoza Longwe, and John Kamaisi emerged as the joint leaders, each finishing the day on level par 144 gross to set up an enthralling contest for the championship.
The trio delivered composed performances across the demanding Royal Nairobi layout to position themselves at the summit of a tightly packed leaderboard.
Just one stroke behind the leaders are Tsevi Tsoni, Gilbert Chalwe and Pranay Kapur, who are tied for fourth place on one-over-par 145 gross.
Their consistent performances have kept them firmly within striking distance as the championship heads into its final two rounds, with every stroke expected to prove decisive in the battle for the title.
