ICEA LION Mitchell Cotts hosts a distinguished field of 100 players in their sponsored golf tournament at the historic 18 holes par 73 Kitale Golf Course in Trans-Nzoia County.
According to a press release from ICEA LION group, the players are salivating for top prizes lined up for winners at the 6990 yards’ course established in 1924, renowned for its lush and scenic layout with frequent sightings of monkeys and diverse birds.
It stated that this tournament has drawn significant interest from the golfing community, with a well-subscribed field of participants while the stage is set for a highly competitive and engaging day.
“The tournament’s growing stature within the regional golfing calendar will set networking opportunities and a shared spirit of sportsmanship to all participants, “said part of the statement.
It pointed out that the partners are both part of the FCS Group of companies and this joint participation underscores the Group’s commitment to fostering collaboration, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and supporting sporting excellence.
“As part of the day’s programme, Mitchell Cotts Group and ICEA LION Group will also undertake a tree-planting exercise, reinforcing our shared commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship and contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance forest cover, “said the statement.
It further noted that through such initiatives, the Group continues to promote community engagement and responsible business practices while contributing to the development of golf in Kenya.
The tournament started off from 8 am with the first flight team of M. Arusei, E. Chessum and B. Bisonga while from the tenth tee at the same time will be the flight of D. Simba, R. Mutambo and J. Wairimu.

Elsewhere at the premier 9-hole Machakos Golf club course, generally playing to a Par 70/72 standard located in Machakos Town has the inaugural NCBA Machakos Open marking the eighth leg of the 2026 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series.
The three-day tournament will run till Sunday,19th, April and has attracted a field of 47 top leading Amateurs with a prize share purse of Ksh. 400,000 up for grabs.
The Open is one of two new additions to the KAGC calendar this season, alongside the Ulinzi Invitational, which was staged earlier in March at the Kenya Air Force Golf Club.
Golf Park’s Elly Limo heads into the tournament as one of the players to watch, arriving in strong form following his victory at the NCBA Winston Churchill 2026 last weekend.
He is facing tough competition from a solid field that includes Isaack Makokha, John Koina, John Kamais, Felix Dusabe, and Josphat Rono, among others.
Kenya Golf Union (KGU) Vice Chairman Brian Akun, who is also the Tournaments Director, said, “The inclusion of two new tournaments to the calendar this year is aimed at elevating performance standards of our amateurs while at the same time giving them more structured pathways for growth. The NCBA Ulinzi Invitational was a big success, and we look forward to an even better NCBA Machakos Open this weekend.”
In the race for the 2026 KAGC title, Jay Sandhu leads the standings with a commanding 560 points, opening a significant gap over Junaid Manji, who sits second on 334.02 points.
Elvis Muigua has climbed to third with 247.26 points following his runner-up finish in Thika, while Kamoza Longwe drops to fourth on 246.30 points in a tightly contested battle. Michael Karanga rounds out the top five on 243.52 points.
