East Africa’s leading investment and transaction advisory firm, ‘Finaltus’, is set to host for the first charity golf tournament of the year geared towards paying school fees for under-privileged kids.
Over 200 golfers are set to compete for a worthy cause at the highly popular ‘Sigovilla’ tournament with each birdie assured to keep a child in school for a term during the ‘Finaltus’ golf tournament set for this Sunday at Sigona Golf Club in Nairobi.
According to ‘Finaltus’ Executive Director and Partner, Paul Kamau, the company that will partner with Bridge International Academies Foundation shall contribute one child’s term fees for every birdie or eagle scored under the Birdies for Education sustainability initiative.

“During this back-to-school period, we are privileged to partner with golfers participating at the Sigovilla tournament to raise school fees for underprivileged children. Both ‘Finaltus’ and Bridge International academies have a shared belief that quality education is not a privilege but a fundamental right which is key in transforming generations,” said Kamau.

A Press release from the company yesterday said that the partnership aims to support the Bridge International Academies Foundation in its initiative to offer children from underserved communities’ access to quality education, empowering them to thrive and setting them on a path of lifelong success.

According to the Professional Golfers Association (PGA), Tour players average about 4.5 birdies per round.
“The leading players averaged about 4.5 birdies per round, with slight variations among the top performers. Top golfers averaged approximately 4.5 birdies per round as well,” notes the PGA website, adding. For instance, during the PGA Championship 2023, 156 players played at least one round, and over the week, they birdied 1111 holes. In the first round, 307 birdies were sunk, while the second round witnessed 391 birdies, the most in the week. The field was cut in half on Saturday, and only 155 birdies were made in the third round, “stated PGA.

It will be interesting to see how Kenyan amateur players fare on this Birdies for Education sustainability initiative and how many underprivileged kids we can fundraise for school fees.
