Coast junior player Aryan Joseph celebrated the weekend in style after beating a strong field of 155 players featuring seniors and veterans during the Members Invitational Golf tournament powered by Absa Bank played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club course in Mombasa County on Saturday.
The fifteen-years old Joseph playing off handicap 21, brought the day’s best score of 40 stable ford points to claim the overall winner’s title during the tournament that that brought the players from the home club, Coast golf clubs, others across the country, guests and sponsors with valid handicaps.
“First I would like to thanks my Parents for their total support that has made me great today. Winning this tournament is one of my greatest moment of pride. To all the seniors and veterans, I played with and against, thank you. Playing with you teaches me so much every time and your experience and sportsmanship inspires me. You set the bar high, I’m lucky to learn from you and I’ll keep working hard. Thank you for making golf so competitive and fun. I promise to keep practicing and to represent my Club Nyali with pride. Mombasa Golf Club captain handicap 7 Feisal Lasker card a 5 over par 76 gross to emerge the best gross winner in the daylong 18 holes’ tournament while Tony Mintos playing off handicap 13 was the Men winner on a count back score of 39 points after tying on the same score with runners up placed handicap 22 Suresh Hirani.
The ladies’ top prize on 39 points was won by handicap 10 Susan Stokes beating handicap 35 Tabitha Mayende to the runners up slot by single point difference.
Walter Kibasi playing off handicap 27 brought 37 points to claim the guest prize while handicap 11 Christine Ockotch on 38 points and handicap 24 Promise Ajello with 34 points were the best senior and junior winners respectively.

Club Captain Muzzahim Taib thanked the sponsor Absa Bank for their support and congratulated every single player who took part in the tournament saying the course was tough, but the spirit was even better.
