A record field of 150 players are set to take on the par-72 Kakamega Golf Course on Saturday, 27th, May, 2023 in the fifth leg of the 2023 KCB East Africa Golf Tour.

The action will tee off at 6:30 AM as the expansive field, which includes members of the Kakamega Golf Club and guest players from around the country, battles to join the winning teams from Eldoret, Limuru and Railways to play in the tour’s grand finale later in the year.
In addition to the amateur series, this leg will see two golf clinics hosted on Sunday targeting ladies and junior golfers.
So far, the clinics have reached over 300 participants in total from the opening three legs at Vetlab, Eldoret, Limuru and Railways golf clubs.
KCB Group Director Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru said, “We are excited to head to Western Kenya for the fifth leg of the KCB East Africa Golf tour, at the Kakamega Golf Club, after successful events at Vetlab, Eldoret, Limuru and Railways Golf Clubs. We look forward to crowning the fourth set of teams who will play at the grand finale, later in the year.”
Kakamega Golf Club Captain James Anzabwa said, “We are honored to host the 5th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour this Saturday. The event has drawn a lot of interest from golf enthusiasts. The course is in great shape, especially after the rains we have received in the last couple of weeks which should provide an exciting challenge to the players.”
The top two teams from this leg will qualify to play in the grand finale slated for November at the Karen Country Club, for a chance to play at the 2024 Magical Kenya Ladies Open Pro-Am event.

Meanwhile, the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) and the Faldo Series invites juniors 21 years and under as to register for the second Faldo Series Kenya Championship to be held from Friday, 2nd June to Sunday, 4th June 2023 at Karen Country Club.
The juniors must have a valid WHS Handicap Index of 24.0 or under for boys and 28.0 or under for girls and provide the CDH ID at registration.
According to JGF,All Faldo Series Tournaments shall be played in accordance with the current Official Guide to the Rules of Golf, Effective January 2023 issued by the R & A and United States Golf Association.
Local Rules, together with any additions or amendments published by the FALDO SERIES at the
Golf course, will apply to all Series Events run by the FALDO SERIES.
“These Local Rules replace any Local Rules published by a host club (e.g., on a club’s score card or
displayed on a notice board or on their website),”said JGF.
All spectators or persons on the course should always maintain a minimum 20 meters from players and
must not encroach on tees or the putting green and this condition is relaxed for ball searches and while dispensing refreshments or anything similar.
“All spectators should comply with the published Parental/Spectator Guidance Note to avoid any
accusation of players requesting or being giving advice, “said JGF.
Players must comply with the dress code of the club hosting the event and any instructions given by the
Faldo Series in the player pack.
“Throughout the course of an event (including practice days) players should uphold the traditions of the
Faldo Series and not misbehave by, for example, swearing, spitting, abusing others, throwing clubs, or
Purposely damaging the golf course, clubhouse or other club property, or act in a manner which otherwise might bring the game and the Faldo Series into disrepute, “said JGF.
Faldo Series Officials will signal a suspension of play for a dangerous situation with one long note of
Klaxons that is the signal for everyone to evacuate the course and return to the clubhouse.
“If it is not possible to give sufficient warning to clear the course before an electrical storm, anyone affected should comply with the following advice. This advice is designed to assist. It is not an instruction or a Condition of Competition, “said JGF.
The Competition Committee shall be responsible for the administration of the competition and
Reserves the right to limit the number of entries or modify the rules of play in consultation with the Faldo Series.
The Competition Committee shall comprise of Chris Pasha, Captain-Karen Country Club, David Kihara, Daphne Maina, Gicheru Kimani and James Ondigo-Tournament Director.
The Championship shall be open to juniors aged 12 to 21 years as at 2nd June 2023 with valid WHS Handicaps.
Handicap Index limits shall be 28.0 for girls and 24.0 for boy and The CDH ID must be provided at the point of registration.
The Championship shall be open to a maximum of 96 players and in the event of an oversubscription,
Preference will be given to the lower-handicapped players.
“JGF shall offer letters of support to players who need leave from school to participate in the
Tournament and Participants in the Championship shall be grouped in classes according to their age as of 2 nd June 2023,”said JGF.
Entries must be submitted no later than Monday, 29th May 2023, 5PM and late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Committee.
The entry fee shall be KES 1000 per participant and the fee paid shall be fully refunded for the applicants who will not be drawn to play.
“No refunds will be given to participants who are registered for this Championship but fail to play for whatever reason, “said JGF.
The Championship shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf of the R&A Rules Limited
and the USGA, The Faldo Series 2023 Hard Card (attached) and such Additional Local Rules as shall
be approved by the Committee.
The Championship shall be decided by three (3) rounds of 18 holes each, played in the stroke play Medal format.
“All competitors must be of Amateur status and all players should be at their allocated tee, ready to play, ten minutes before their starting time, “said JGF.
Players should register at the venue at least 30 minutes before their allocated starting time and if it becomes impossible to complete the Tournament in accordance with the conditions thereof
because of adverse weather conditions, or other circumstances which in the opinion of the
Committee make it impossible or impractical to do so, the Committee shall be empowered to vary
Such conditions to the extent necessary to achieve a result within the time available.
All competitors will be required to play with driving clubs that have a club head identified by model
And loft that is named on the current List of Conforming Driver Heads issued by the R&A and Caddies and ride-on golf buggies are not permitted in the Championship.
The Committee shall provide one (1) ball spotter/scoring marshal per flight for the purpose of
Assisting in looking for the players’ golf balls and verifying scores.
“Any competitor who during the Tournament, including practice days, misbehaves by, for example,Swearing, throwing clubs, or abusing or vandalizing the golf course or clubhouse, or acts in any Manner which might bring the game or the Faldo Series into disrepute may be barred from entering
Or taking part in any Tournament for such period as the Committee may decide, “Warned JGF.
Prizes will be awarded to, overall gross winner, Gross winner and gross runner-up in each age category
