-Kamiri shines at Thika Greens,Bosire beats them at Machakos and Njuguna was best at Ruiru Sports Club;

Joseph Kamiri carded an excellent 44 stable ford points to emerge the overall winner at the Thika Green Golf Resort Course in Kiambu County on Saturday.

This was during the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Corporate golf day where the handicap 19 Golfer beating handicap 22 George Wamae to the runners up slot by a two points difference.

Eraustus Ndungu playing off handicap 27  survived to claim the runners up  slot on account back score of 41 points  after tying with third placed handicap 10 Anthony Muita.

Doris Knight playing off handicap 23 was the Lady winner on 43 points while handicap 18 Jackline Sirai with 40 points and handicap 26 Magdalene who had a score of 38 points were the runners up and third placed respectively.

Taking the Staff prize was handicap 51 Judith Kimeu who had a score of 29 points and handicap 18 John Ngugi was the Thika Greens Member winner after carding 41 points.

The Subsidiary man winner on 50 points and same for the lady  with 42 points were handicap  31 Samuel Irungu and handicap 44 Caroline Muruga respectively.

Stephen Kinyanjui playing off handicap 42 was the Best Effort winner on 17 points from both nines.

Elsewhere at Machakos Country Club on the same day, handicap 34 Fenah Bosire returned a ccount back score of 79 nett to emerge the lady winner of the Machakos Divas golf Tournament that attracted 150m golfers.

She had tied with runners up handicap 12 Catherine Wambui and  taking the third slot on 82 nett was handicap 23 Jane Kiiti.

The Men winner was handicap 21 John Kilonzo who brought a score of 70 nett while handicap 24 Muli Kavita with 71 nett and handicap 5 James Ndunda on 72 nett were the runners up and third placed respectively.

Monicah kamundi playing off handicap 34 carded 77 nett to win the Guest prize  and  handicap 30 James Kimotho  brought 78 nett  to take the runners up slot.

BRIAN JAYSINS, OXYGEN PR, adds that at Ruiru Sports Club, Handicap 16 golfer Samuel Nguguna carded 43 stable ford points to win the centenary golf tournament as the club marked 100 years of existence.

“I am elated to be named the overall winner of this tournament at a time we are celebrating 100 years of existence and progressive excellence. I thank my four-ball for an amazing outing on the course and I cannot wait to brave the fairways in the competitions to come, “said Njuguna.

Peter Mwaura who plays off handicap 13 was crowned the division one men winner after returning an excellent score of 41 stable ford points at the tournament that was graced by 232 golfers from Nairobi and its environs.

In the division two category, Amos Mwaura who plays off handicap 25 returned 43 points to cruise to victory beating Philip Nguyai, handicap 28, who carded 42 points to emerge second.

Handicap 13 Lucy Njuguna clinched the division one lady winner award after returning 41 points to beat her closest challenger Grace Miano, handicap 17, who carded 40 stableford points to be named second in the highly contested category.

Vincent Musalia, handicap 39 returned 47 stable ford points to win the guest winner award and was closely followed by handicap 35 Milkah Macharia who carded 42 stable ford points to finish second.

While Eliakim Maina claimed the longest driver award in the men’s category, Beatrice Waweru clinched it in the ladies’ category after her excellent ball-striking technique. Lucy Njugunu won the nearest to the pin in the ladies’ category while Dr. Fred Mugambi scooped it in the men’s category.

The club also hosted a series of other activities to mark the continental milestone- bowling, swimming, and pool table that culminated in a blue-themed dinner event with color and pomp.

East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), BF SUMA, Maridady, Prife International and Fresha Dairy Brands sponsored the event.
