Kim Nderitu was all smiles after outshining colleagues in the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) Chairman (Chris Kinuthia) Prize golf tournament played at Thika Sports Cub course in Kiambu County on Saturday.
Playing off handicap 20 Nderitu rounded up the 18 holes’ day long tournament with a brilliant score of 40 stable ford points to emerge the overall winner.
“Thank you Chairman Kinuthia and the committee for a fantastic day out on the course. The course was in great condition, and the competition was tough right to the 18th. I didn’t expect to be standing here, but I’ll take it with all pride. Huge thanks to my flight for such good company and making it a fun. Most importantly, thank you to my family for all your support. And to the green keepers, the course is in excellent condition, challenging but played fair and fast. Handicap 2 Paul Ngugi was the gross winner having carded 32 gross, while handicap 24 Weldon Mutai on 27 points and handicap 18 Lucas Margana with 34 points emerged the KGU Executive and past KGU Chairmen winners respectively.
Division 1 men winner’s prize was claimed by handicap 6 Edward Nyamu who had a score of 33 points and the same for the Lady’s category was won by handicap 15 Eunice Muhemba who had the same score.
Charles Maina playing off handicap carded 38 points to win the Men division while handicap 28 Maureen Wahome brought 39 points to take lady’s prize on the same category.
The Division 3 men winner went to handicap 25 S.G. Njuguna with a score of 39 points and handicap 35 Graceanne Kamau the same category Lady’s winner on 40 points.
Lawrence Kipya playing off handicap 22 won the KGU Staff prize with a score of 29 points while handicap 32 David Kaguai on 37 points and handicap 52 Pauline Mumbi with 39 points were the Subsidiary Men and Lady winners respectively.
School boy Leo playing off handicap 7 brought 31 points to win the Junior prize beating handicap 16 Nicholas Njoka to the runners up sot on a single point difference.
Handicap 35 Teresa Muchiri was the nine winner with 23points and the second nine winner’s prize went to handicap 15 Ndung’u Nderitu who had a score of 22 points.
The longest drive men and lady winners were Emmanuel Wachira and Wambui Gachoka respectively as Lawrence Kipya took the nearest to the pin men prize and Wambui Ndia was the nearest to the Pin lady winner while handicap 31 James Gichimu emerged the best effort winner on 6 points.
