Mombasa Golf Club, founded in 1911 is a 9-hole course and is located on Mama Ngina Drive, just East of Kilindini Harbor around a very affluent residential downtown Kizingo, surrounded by a beautiful coral reef and white sandy beach, with great views across to the Mombasa harbor entrance and beyond into the Indian Ocean.
The Club Course provides some amazing views while you play since it overlooks the Indian Ocean and stretches of white beaches and though it may be beautiful, it has a reputation among Golfers as a tricky course.
It also traditionally hosts the Coast Open competition each year, also known as the Barry Cup (named after one of the club’s founders, Percy Barry) and was mainly a Kenyan event, though from 2008 there were also Golfers from neighboring Uganda and Tanzania adding an international element to the Open.
