The 2026 NCBA Kenya Junior Matchplay Championship is underway for an all-Sigona Golf Club final after Maahir Patel and Yuvraj Singh Rajput emerged from a highly competitive quarterfinal and semifinal day at Sigona Golf Club.
Both players won twice on Wednesday to book their places in Thursday’s 36-hole championship final, setting up a compelling showdown between two players who know the course well and have produced impressive matchplay performances throughout the championship.
The day began with the quarterfinals, where Ewan Widor defeated Strokeplay qualifying leader Mwathi Gicheru 4&3 to reach the semifinals.
Maahir Patel secured his semifinal place with a 2&1 victory over Sean Widor, while Yuvraj Rajput defeated Jelani Kihanya 3&1.
In the other quarterfinal, Kevin Anyien defeated Brianna-Simone Ngecu 4&3, bringing an end to Ngecu’s outstanding run as the only girl to reach the quarterfinal stage of the championship.
Patel continued his impressive run in the semifinals by defeating Ewan Widor 5&4 to reach his first championship final.
After a closely fought opening stretch, Patel took control with a superb run of golf, producing five birdies and four pars across the decisive stretch of his round.
A standout moment came on the 14th hole, where Patel sank a remarkable 30-foot birdie putt to seal his match.

In the second semifinal, Yuvraj Rajput defeated Kevin Anyien 3&2 in a match that saw momentum shift several times.
Rajput made a blistering start, racing to a 5-up lead after eight holes.
Anyien responded impressively, winning the 9th, 10th and 12th holes to reduce the deficit to just two.
Rajput answered immediately with a birdie on the 13th to restore his three-hole advantage before displaying composure over the closing holes.
He parred the 16th to maintain his advantage and subsequently closed out the match 3&2, securing his place in the championship final.

The semifinal results also set up an 18-hole third-place playoff between Ewan Widor and Kevin Anyien, which will tee off at 8:10 am on Thursday.
