KCB Bank Kenya and National Bank of Kenya have sent 25 staff to watch the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament which kicked off on January 11 in Cote D’Ivoire.
The trip serves as a reward for their stellar performance in the ‘Form ni AFCON’ staff incentive campaign for the sale of general insurance policies underwritten by Old Mutual Insurance.

The team, which also comprises some staff from Old Mutual, will depart the country on Thursday morning for their 6-day fully sponsored stay in the West African country.
Speaking ahead of their departure, NBK Managing Director George Odhiambo said, “We are excited to send our top sales team to Ivory Coast for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the African Cup of Nations tournament. The ‘Form ni AFCON’ campaign aimed to celebrate our high achievers with a memorable journey to AFCON and simultaneously boost insurance uptake among our clientele.”
KCB Bancassurance Intermediary and NBK Bancassurance Intermediary teams are keen at deepening their play in the insurance sector through distribution of existing and new insurance products.

Apart from watching a live match at the continental showpiece, the team will also visit prominent cultural sites and engage in team-building activities.
“This reward program is a stepping stone to further deepen our partnership and expand our insurance offerings to a broader customer base,” Old Mutual General Insurance Managing Director Japheth Ogallo said.
This initiative incentive program is a testament to KCB Group’s innovative approach to incentivizing and motivating its workforce in line with KCB’s brand purpose, “For People, For Better”, which is anchored on opening doors of opportunity for millions of people to realize their dreams.
BRIAN JAYSINS, OXYGENE PR, adds that Elsewhere KCB RFC Head Coach Curtis Olago has urged his charges not to rest on their laurels when they take on Strathmore Leos in Kenya Cup action this weekend at the Den in Ruaraka, Nairobi.
The bankers have been imperious since the beginning of the season, picking up four straight wins in the last four matches to maintain their second position in the current standings, 20 points behind the Kabras, who lead by point’s difference.
“We need to be wary of Strathmore Leos, who have always caused a lot of problems whenever we play them. The boys must be solid at the back and avoid costly mistakes that may deny us a chance to win the game. We have trained well this week, and I am happy with my players. Calling upon our fans to show up in large numbers for the weekend’s fixture,” noted KCB RFC Head Coach Curtis Olago.
Winger Festus Shiasi currently sits 4th in the leading top scorers list with 5 tries, while Austin Sikutwa is 3rd in the leading point’s scorers with 30 points bagged for the Curtis-Olago-led side.
The trio of Scrum-half Samuel Asati, winger Festus Shiasi and Vincent Onyala, who were instrumental in leading Kenya Sevens to glory at the HSBC Challenger series in Dubai, are back with the team but are unlikely to feature for the bankers this weekend.
KCB Captain Griffin Musila said, “The boys are oozing confidence, and we cannot wait to take on Leos over the weekend. It has always been an interesting match against them, so we expect another tough but amazing encounter.”
Olago and his technical team are expected to name the squads that will represent KCB in both the ESS and Kenya Cup matches this Saturday.
