GOLF NEWS-Kamau triumphs at Captain James Muraguri prize at Ruiru sports club.

-He beat 240 golfers in the tournament to celebrate the tenure in office of Muraguri.

Handicap 25 golfer, William Kamau returned an impressive 44 stable ford points to emerge as the overall winner of the captain’s (James Muraguri) prize tournament played at the 18-hole Ruiru Sports Club over the weekend.

Kamau beat a huge field of 270 golfers who converged at the lush course and his closest challenger handicap 18 Wilson Thuo returned 41 stable ford points to be crowned the men’s winner of the day.

“Ruiru has become a cradle of excellence when it comes to golf. Over the years, we have seen tremendous improvements in all aspects of the game. I am happy to be part of this incredible journey that will for sure shape the golfing landscape in the country. Today, I had my swing and my first nine performances were impeccable. Although my second nine was not my best, I managed to pull it off,” said Kamau.


Gatama Gichini who plays off handicap 22 carded 40 points to finish as the men’s runner up while in the women’s category handicap 20 Susan Kanyora soared high in recording an excellent 43 stable ford points to bag the lady’s prize.


Handicap 14 Sophie Mbochi handicap 14 finished second with 40 points and handicap 27 Jane Kanari was third with 39 stable ford points.
The guest winner of the day was handicap 23 Bernard Kamau who brought 39 points and handicap 25 Shirleen Kariuki scooped the junior prize after carding an excellent score of 40 points.


John Baptista playing off handicap 28 had 22 points to clinch first nine award in the men’s category while handicap 25 Patrick Ngunjiri with 24 points emerged the second nine winners.
Handicap 23 Mary Wambui on 21 points to claim the first nine award in the women’s category handicap 19 Judy Nyambura with 21 points was the second nine winners.


The outgoing captain James Muraguri said, “I am indebted to everyone who played a pivotal role during my tenure as captain for this amazing club. I am also proud of the incredible achievements we witnessed since I took over. It is my hope that as we move forward, we will usher in new leadership that will steer the club in the right direction. My profound gratitude also goes to the chairman and the leadership team for their guidance.”
