The Inaugural Mombasa Chamber Golf tournament has attracted over 240 golfers vying for various sterling prizes at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club course in Mombasa County on Saturday.
The golfers drawn from the home Club, Sea-front Mombasa, Diani’s Diamond Leisure, Vipingo Ridge, Malindi, others from Clubs outside Coast and guests with valid handicaps are expected to bring out their best talents and skills.

This day long 18 holes’ tournament tees off from as early as 6.50 am with the Club Chairman Jayne Githere leading of the flight of Kaguru, S. Gakuo, Wanjiku Kinyeru and the last one at 13:50pm will that of Ogola.A, Warui.D, Joel Mochanga, and a Kenya navy lady golfer Orpha Wamaitha.

Club Captain Omar Lewa said the Club has recorded a large number of entries for the day-long 18 holes’ tournament being supported by several Corporates under the umbrella of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KNCCI) through the Mombasa Chamber.
“We are excited for this and I can assure all players that the course is playing well and it’s in pristine condition. We have also lined up various prizes for the winners and excellent entertainment in the evening, “said Lewa.

Among the Golfers outside Mombasa who are expected to give the guest players a run for their money includes Vetlab Sports Club’s Caroline Kathia and Malindi Golf Club’s former lady Captain Hamida Chidagaya.
The Joint Sponsors are Kushi Motors,Safari link ,Skywward Airlines,Port Side,Grain IndustriesLimited,Zoho,Lifecare,EABL,AAR,Bamburi Cement,Kericho Gold,Bullah sports,Superior Homes,Hotel Saphire, and Leverage Experts among others.
Elsewhere, another estimated 230 golfers will be at the par 72 Thika Sports Club course in Kiambu County also on the same day to grace the third leg of the 2025 KCB East Africa Golf Tour.
The 2025 Tour which returns after a month-long break has so far been held at the Royal Sports Club for the opening leg and the Mombasa Sports Club subsequently in February.
The return of the tour promises a lot of action with golfers battling to secure a slot in the grand finale to be held in December 2025.
The morning first flight team on the course is set to tee off from 6 am to 9 am while the afternoon team tees off from 11 am to 2 pm and on Sunday, KCB will host a golf clinic for kids as well as a tree-planting session in line with the Bank’s sustainability agenda.
KCB Group Director Marketing and Citizenship Rosalind Gichuru said, “This year, we are targeting 30 legs, 6 more than what we hosted last year. We are aiming to reach out to more golfers while at the same time growing the sport in the country.”
In the last two legs, a team of Andrew Gathere, Simon Mwangi, Joseph King’ola, and Oscar Koitaba were named the overall winners of the first leg of the 2025 Tour at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, while James Gitonga, Salim Taib, Mary Mariga and Wanjiku Kinyeru were the overall team winners at the Sea-front Mombasa 9-hole course and the two became the first to book a slot in the grand finale.
The grand finale winning team is set to win a cash prize of KSh. 1 million and an opportunity to participate in a prestigious golf tournament to be announced later while this cash prize will be directed to funding a sustainability project at their home clubs.
