Nairobi City County Government has today signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Standard Chartered Bank Limited as the two organizations enter into collaboration in initiating activities targeting environment, education and entrepreneurship initiatives, at City Hall.
While signing the MOU, the County Secretary Mr. Patrick Analo said that the County welcomes the move and looks forward into working with the Bank in various activities which include tree planting, medical camp, employability- targeting University and County TVET colleges and the Standard Chartered marathon that are aimed at promoting community investment and support for the vulnerable people in the community.
The partnership also seeks to involve sharing of information and best practices with a focus on awareness creation and community engagement.
“The County is carrying out a number of other initiatives like Dishi na County and the Elnino rains preparedness. You are free to also reach out to the County for partnerships in any of these area.” Said the County Secretary.
As part of collaboration, the Standard Chartered Bank plans to set up a tree nursery at the City Park in supporting the county achieve 1Million tree initiative per year.
The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon Chairman Mr. Peter Gitau thanked the County for supporting the bank for the last 20 years through waivers, creating a good working relationship between the two organizations.
Mr. Gitau also presented the to the County Secretary a request for a tax waiver for the upcoming Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.
The two organizations also discussed on areas of cooperation for the StanChart Nairobi Marathon. The two will work together in planning of the marathon, facilitate dissemination of information regarding the marathon to the general public, public notices and signage’s, marathon facilities and security.
The signing of the MOU was witnessed by County Executive Committee Member for Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service Ms. Anastasia Nyalita and Acting County Attorney Ms. Christine Ireri.
