Lady golfer Navinder Kaur produced a composed and consistent round to emerge overall winner of the Club Nite tournament played at the par71 Nyali Golf & Country Club in Mombasa County on Thursday.
The handicap 29 Kaur, who has been showing steady improvement in recent months carded 38 Stable ford points to clinch the title in the day long 18 holes’ tournament.
Speaking after her victory, an elated Kaur said consistency on the greens was key to her win.
“I am really happy to win today. I have been working on my short game and keeping the ball in play and today everything came together. The course was in great condition and playing well, so I just tried to stay consistent and not force anything. Getting this result against such a big field of players is very special for me. This win gives me a lot of confidence going into the upcoming tournaments. I also extend great thanks to my playing partners and the club for the well-organized tournament,” said Kaur.

In a tightly contested leaderboard, Kaur held off a close challenge from handicap 36 Deborah Wamalwa who finished as runners with a count back score of 37 points after tying with third placed handicap 15 and Sam Muraya.
In the gross category, handicap 2 William Odeck underlined his class with an excellent round of 4 over par 75 gross to claim the best gross prize, recorded as the best gross score of the day on a course that was playing firm and fast.
The best high handicappers prize went to handicap 33 Kabir Kakkar who returned 37 points and handicap 21 Johnson Wamunyua took the best senior prize with 33 points.
The club did not have a junior winner on the day, with no junior player participating, but the guest category was competitive where handicap 25 Tobias Messo was crowned the guest winner after posting 34 points.
The nine prizes saw handicap 19 Mehdi Gulamhussein take best first nine prize on 22 points while Dhanji Pindolia playing off handicap 15 claimed the best second nine prize also with 22 points.
Gulamhussein enjoyed a double on the day, also winning nearest to the pin in the novelty prizes, as in the longest drive contests, Kelly Rob and Mary Chebukati were the Men and Lady winners respectively.

Sangoro said the Thursdays Club Nite continues to be a vital platform for members to interact and improve their game while maintaining the Club’s vibrant sporting culture.
