Elvis Muigua, a formidable force in the World of Golf, is primed to pursue his third consecutive triumph at the Windsor Classic tournament, slated to unfold from Friday, March 1st to Sunday, March 3rd at the illustrious Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club.
Following his recent victories at the 65th Sigona Bowl in January and the inaugural Great Rift Valley Championship in February, Muigua is poised to etch his name further into Golfing lore.
According to Greg Gathumbi, the esteemed captain of Windsor Club, the course is in impeccable condition for the championship, with particular emphasis on the pristine greens.
Competitors will not only vie for the esteemed and historic trophy but also a substantial cash prize of Ksh. 450,000, jointly sponsored by NCBA Bank and the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club, to be distributed among the top 20 players.
In addition to the allure of the championship and its lucrative rewards, the event holds significance on multiple fronts.
The Kenya Golf Union Tournament Director David Ndung’u highlighted that the tournament will contribute towards the Kenya Amateur Golf Ranking and the World Amateur Golf Ranking, underscoring its importance within the global golfing community.
The tournament has attracted 134 participants among them 123 Kenyans, 4 Ugandans, 2 Indians, 2 Rwandese, 1 Norwegian and 1 Zimbabwean.
Moreover, the tournament has drawn the participation of four elite female golfers namely Joyce Wanjiru, Kellie Gachaga, Belinda Wanjiru, and Diana Mbuba, further enriching the competitive landscape and fostering inclusivity within the sport.
