GOLF NEWS-Juniors display their last shots before School opening in the KC Junior Series meet at Diani.

-Through the fairways, the Juniors signed off their school holidays in style by recording brilliant scores in various age categories.


-This tournament marked the opening round of this year’s exciting and expanded Coastal junior golf circuit.

Juniors brought forward brilliant scores in varies age categories record brilliant results during round one of the 2026 KC Junior Golf Series played at the 18-hole par 72 Diani’s Diamond Leisure Golf Resort course in South Coast of Mombasa, Kwale County on Sunday.
The tournament brought together Juniors from Nyali Golf and Country Club, Malindi Golf and Country Club, Mombasa Golf Club, Vipingo Ridge and hosts Diamond Leisure Golf Resort Club.
It featured age groups from 18 to 8 years old and under for boys and girls that saw handicap 30 Aryan Awe Joseph clinch the boys 14 to 18 years’ age group title after carding 97 gross.
“Thank you to my parents for waking up early to care for me. I can’t believe I won today. The course was hard after the rain, but the greens were perfect and that made my play quite easy. I shall keep practicing more during weekends because we are going back to School and hope to even play better next time, “said Joseph.
Handicap 20 David Kaguru was the runners up on 100 gross beating handicap 15 Alpha Wise to the third slot by a 9 points difference.
In the girls 8 to 11 years old group, handicap 30 Samara Tamara emerged the queen with 58 gross while handicap 20 Avian Klee on 61 points claimed the runners’ up slot and Dhanika Patel playing off handicap brought 70 gross for third place.
“Honestly I’m shaking. I didn’t think I’d be standing here. It was tough, but golf has taught me patience and I kept on to win. Thank you to my parents and this trophy is yours too,” said Tamara.
Lucas Kampa playing off handicap 30 proved he was still the home best junior in the 12 to 14 years’ boys age category beating colleagues on 96 gross.
Handicap 20 Casey Ombija was the runners up with 120 gross and taking the third slot on 125 gross was handicap 15 Promise Anjelo as handicap 30 Kanika Shah commanded the girls 11-15 years’ group carding 122 gross.
The boys 10 to 12 years’ group was won by handicap 30 Marcel Adeyemo who had 92 gross, while handicap 20 Theuri Wamweru on 104 gross and handicap 15 Hassan Hamid with 106 gross were the runners’ up and third placed respectively.
Nyali Golf and Country Club’s junior Niall Chauhan playing off handicap 30 and who has of recent been terrorizing his colleagues in the 8 to 10 years old group, again proved his dominance by producing a count back score of 57 gross after tying with runners up placed handicap 20 Fateh Hunjan as handicap 15 Jamie Noonan hanged on to the third slot on 61 gross.
Handicap 30 Mohamed Hamid brought 50 gross to win the boy’s 8 years old and under age team and the same for the girls was claimed by handicap 30 Maria Zawadi who recorded 60 gross.

One of the organizers, Sheel Dodhia noted that the vision is long-term, saying this is a significant milestone for the growth of junior golf and that this year’s series will be played across all five premier courses in the Coastal region.
“The series is aimed at creating a structured and inclusive pathway for junior development and a key highlight of the series will be the grand finale, to be held after eight rounds, where overall winners in each category will be crowned based on consistent performance throughout the season,” said Dodhia.
