The fairways of Vipingo Ridge Golf Resort in Kilifi County turned into a breathtaking festival after youngsters were crowned champions in the 2026 NCBA U.S. Kids Mombasa Fall Local Tour on Sunday.
Excited parents, some playing the Caddies role, witnessed brilliant display of golf from juniors aged 7-year-olds navigating nine holes with wide-eyed wonder, to the composed 18-year olds grinding through a brutal PGA rated par 72-18 hole test.
The over 60 juniors from across the Coast region showcased power, patience and pure passion in a day that underlined Kenya’s bright golfing future in the tournament sponsored by NCBA Bank.
The Boys 15-18 years’ category played over 18 holes, saw Shay Chauhan firing a superb 79 gross to claim top honors, ahead of Aryan Awe Joseph who battled to second with 90 gross, while David Kaguru was third on 96 gross.
Angel Wangari took command of the Girls 15-18 years’ division to win with 118 gross, Lisa Ayimba fought hard for second place with 141 gross, just one shot ahead of Khatija Pasta who third after posting 142 gross.
The Boys 13-14 contest belonged to Lukas Kampa, whose 91 gross was enough to lift the title while Promise Ajello took the runners up slot with 108 gross and Casey Ombija brought 110 gross to sit third.
Nikki Pattni produced a mature display in Girls 13-14 side to win with 104 gross, beating Kanika Shah the runner-up spot with 6 strokes difference.
In the Boys 12 years’ category, Hassan Hamid emerged victorious on 100 gross and Viaan Dodhia claimed second with 113 gross, while Vicenzo De Florio was third on 127 gross.
Ivanna Wanjiku won with an impressive 103 gross in the Girls 11-12 side, as Sarrah Kudrati on 111 gross and Shanial Alma with 143 gross emerged runners up and third respectively.
Boys 11 years produced fireworks where Cyril Theuri Wamweru stormed to victory with a brilliant 92 gross, the lowest score among the pre-teen boys over 18 holes and Yash Shah finished second on 109 gross, narrowly ahead of Shay Jinal Shah who recorded 110 gross.
The 9-hole battles were just as electric, with parents doubling up as caddies, mentors and cheerleaders, which saw in the Boys 10 years, Amay Shah and Niall Chauhan both carded 49 gross in a dead-heat thriller, with Shah taking the honors on countback and Keith Ajello was third on 54 gross.
Girls 9-10 saw Samara Teneva dazzle with a winning 45 gross, ahead of Avian Klee on 48 gross and Natalie Amor on 54 gross.
Boys 9 years delivered the tightest contest of the day where Fateh Singh Hunjan edged to victory with 44 gross, just one stroke clear of Raheel Kadernani on 45 gross, while Tiras Kaguta finished third on 49 gross.
In Girls 8 & Under, Rania Rai charmed the galleries to win with 60 gross, followed by Ariana Njeri on 66 gross and Samarah Pasta on 79 gross.
Boys 8 years went to Benny Salzmann with 49 gross, two shots clear of Mohamed Hamid on 51 gross, with Emmanuel Klee third on 57 gross.
And in the adorable Boys 7 years’ division, Muraguri Kaito Kiragu held his nerve for a one-shot victory with 63 gross over Jamari Charlie Gwaro on 64 gross, as Aidan Pasta finished third on 72 gross to the delight of stunned parents lining the final green.
Tournament Director Kailesh Chauhan hailed the Vipingo stop as a huge success saying, “What we witnessed here was special. From the 7-year-olds to the 18-year-olds, the level of competition, discipline and sportsmanship was outstanding. These juniors are earning valuable Priority Status points that open doors to the U.S. Kids Regional Invitational and even World Championships. We are building a real pathway.”
