Women’s national league defending champions KCB will kick off the new Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) campaign at the Koitalel Samoei University, Nandi County on November 2-3.
The bankers will take on Vihiga County on Thursday before tackling detectives DCI on Friday as the Munala-led charges aim to start the new season on a high note.
KCB will also participate in the Heroes Community Tournament organized by the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) that will be held at the same venue on November 4-5.
“We are heading to Nandi County to make a statement right from the onset. As the defending champions, teams will be out to bring their A games to the table, so we must prove why we are the champions. The team is in good shape as the girls are raring to go. Over the past few weeks, we have trained very well, and it is my hope that we will begin on the right footing,” noted head coach Japheth Munala.
Teenage sensation Marlyn Terry whose star performance during the 2022/23 league playoffs handed KCB the title in 16 years is expected to feature for her side in this tourney.
Captain Edith Wisa will lead the 18-player team that departs for Nandi County tomorrow morning. Some of the top names include Juliana Namutira, Esther Mutinda, Mercy Moim, Shirleen Maiywa, and Mariam Musa.
The technical bench will include head coach Japheth Munala, his assistant David Kinga, Team Manager Moses Kimani, Trainer Eunice Mayo, and Strength and Conditioning Coach Esau Otieno.
After the league opener this weekend, KCB will resume action on November 16-19 for the 2nd leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation League at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
