-Kenya one Odhiambo and Musyoka as Captain will lead the team to the 2025 World Championship in Italy.

This year’s World Draughts Championship set for 12th to 19th, October in Italy will have an eight-man team Kenya led by Kenya one and Africa one Crispin Odhiambo with Captain Charles Musyoka as Captain.
The team that includes Kitui’s Kiema Musyimi, University of Nairobi’s Steve Owino, Kwale County’s Hussein Gogo and Badman Athman.
Others includes, a Secondary School teacher in Ganze, Kilifi County, Caleb Coast, Kamash Mboma from Kongowea, Mombasa, Alaskan Mbomaa veteran player from Gongoni in Kilifi County and Taita’s Dapthton Mwaboti Mwashigadi from Kilifi County.
The team was selected at the conclusion of a two days Kenya Draught association’s Mombasa competition played at Mitisupu in Chaani, Mombasa County on Sunday evening.
Kiema Musyimi emerged the overall winner with a total of 109.5 points while Steve Owino on 112.5 points and
Hussein Gogo score of 113.5 points, claimed runners up and third slot respectively.
“I would like to thank my opponent for a challenging match. Iam indeed honored to have won this competition. Winning is rewarding but the real prize is the connections made and the skills developed. Let’s keep playing and learning together. Thank you, “said Musyimi.
For their efforts in the competition that attracted 300 players, Musymi received Ksh. 5,000, Owoni got Ksh. 3,500 and Gogo went home with Ksh. 3,000 and they were among the top ten leaders who were awarded cash prizes.
Team Kenya Captain Charles Musyoka was delighted at the large numbers of the participants who made he competition successful.
“It was a two days of intense challenge where high skills of the match were displayed. Our selected Team are in high spirits, raring to go and raise the Country’s flag high in Italy. We appeal for support from the Government especially the Ministry of Sports and gender to come to our aid so that the sport can grow bigger around the country, “said Musyoka.
The competition was attended by Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi and the Mombasa Senator Mwinyi Faki who also took to play with the sport with some of the players.
