GOLF NEWS-Eric Nyongesa wins a brand new Audi Q3 car after sinking a ‘Hole in One’ in Kambasome at Sea-Link Course.

Home Club’s Eric Nyongesa was the player of the day after fulfilling his once in a life time dream of sinking a rare ‘Hole in One’ to win a latest Audi Q3 brand Car in the Kambasome Golf tournament played at the Sea-Link Mombasa Golf Club in Mombasa County on Saturday.
The handicap 7 Nyongesa who is also the Club’s past Captain utilized an 8 iron shot on hole 3, to register his first ‘hole in one’ achievement after 20 years of playing Golf.
His will be awarded the prize Car worth Ksh.4.2 million presented by Khush Motors and will be handed over to him within the month during a Club nite by the Motors Company.
“I can’t believe and completely speechless. This is a dream come true. It is every Golfer’s dream, and I have just made mine. Thank you to everyone who supported me, and to the Club’s team for hosting such a wonderful tournament. I’d like to thank my family and friends for being here to share this moment with me. Cheers and thank you again, “said Nyongesa.
Nyongesa was also the day’s Men winner after losing the overall title to handicap 25 Stephen Kisevu and Men runners up handicap 18 Symon Wambugu on a two way count back when they all tied the day with 39 points each.
‘Wakwitu’ Golfing community organized the tournament aimed at promoting the celebrations of ‘Kamba’ Culture with diversity and making friendship, through the Sport of Golf.
Ken Wamaria live and Machinery Boys Live Band entertained the event that was jointly sponsored by Kushi Motors Limited, Envasses Environmental Consultants Limited, Kenya Airways, Pauland, Quick Movers, Pro Golf Master, CTM, MMK, Wakwitu Queens, Deansbrook Schools, Leif, Artha, Premier Hospital, and Friends of Kambasome among others.
Handicap 17 Orpha Wamaitha was the Lady winner on a count back score of 35 points, beating handicap 25 Janet Wasike to the runners up slot after both also tied.
The Club’s former Chairman Paul Munyao playing off handicap 19 carded 35 points to emerge the Kambasome Men winner and the same prize for the Lady was grabbed by handicap 24 Gladys Kasi with a score of 36 points.
Azhar Mughal playing off handicap 27 with a score of 34 points and handicap 19 Aaron Mutisya on 36 points were the Senior and Junior winners respectively.
‘Wakwitu’ Golf Community Chairman Joseph Kitema thanked the players for honoring the successful tournament saying it is aimed promoting and celebrating the ‘Kamba’ Culture with diversity and making friendship, through the Sport of Golf.
“The tournament is a cultural celebration and networking opportunity that promotes Kamba culture, featuring Golf, food, music, and fellowship. This is what Golf is all about, bringing people together. The plays and guests also enjoyed Kamba music, traditional foods (like Mutokoi) and social networking, “said Kitema.
Elsewhere, handicap 19 Sammy Kamau survived on a count back score of 41 points to emerge the overall winner in the Sanlam Allianz tournament played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club Course in Mombasa also on Saturday.
He tied with the Club Captain Omar Lewa playing off handicap 9 who claimed the Men winner’s prize while handicap 9 Jimmy King’ori brought 38 points to win the runners up slit and handicap 5 Gurbux Singh was the gross winner with a four over par 75 gross.
Handicap 25 Lena Breitner posted 38 points to win the Lady’s title beating handicap 9 Mary Kandu to the runners up slot by a single point difference.
The Best senior on 40 points was handicap 37 Peter Macharia and the Best Junior was handicap 13 Shay Chauhan with a score of 40 points while handicap 19 Ethan Kinuthia carded 39 points to emerge the junior runners up.
Handicap 20 Dr. Patrick Nyamemba on 30 points and handicap 22 Abed Malik with 38 points were the Staff and Guest winners respectively.
The Individual Coast Clubs winner on 28 points handicap 22 Bharat Chavda and handicap 44 Emmalyne Kamau clinched the high handicappers prize with 35 points.
