He pointed out that this year’s tournament upholds the long-standing standards of competitive excellence associated with the Nyali Open, with participation open to Golfers holding a verifiable WHS handicap index of 16.3 or better.
“The course is in pristine condition and as usual the winds are strong with hot sun as well. This tournament is likely to be won on strengths around course management and endurance. For the elite amateurs, go for it. For the newcomers into this level, I recommend you manage your expectations.
The purse is bigger and better spread. Welcome for the game. If the game turns harder, you can enjoy our hospitality at Nyali and the great walks on a premier golf course,” said Lewa.
All players will compete over three rounds on the demanding and challenging course, with the top 33 players and ties advancing to the final round after the cut on Saturday.
Among the early entrants is the tournament’s defending champion and leading National amateur John Lejirma, Michael Karanga, and Elvis Muigua who are all expected to be strong contenders for this year’s title and have already camped at the course since Wednesday for practice and acclimatization of the current Coastal hot weather.

I will ensure to stay focused and positive, even when things are not going my way. I’m also taking care of my physical health, getting plenty of rest and eating well. It’s all about the details and I’m glad I paid attention to them. Nothing fancy just sticking to my game plan and enjoying it, key point is to keep the momentum going, stay composed under pressure and trust the process,” said Lejirma.
