Team Kenya beat Uganda 15.5-10.5 points to reclaim the 2026 Victoria Cup in a thrilling play at the 18 holes’ scenic historic par 71 Entebbe Golf Club course, the oldest in East and Central Africa, established in 1901 on the shores of Lake Victoria in neighboring Uganda.
Kenya set the tone early in opening foursomes session of the three days’ tournament that saw the Country make a strong start with Team captain Elvis Muigua and Junaid Manji securing a 2-0 victory over Uganda’s Joseph Kasozi and Elton Thembo, while team mates John Lejirma and Kevin Anyien recorded another 2-0 win against Uganda’s Andrew Ssekibejja and Godfrey Kambale.
“As a Captain I would say I believed in the team and the hard work we did in Naivasha having good chemistry in between the players helped us to the victory and thanks for the team coach for such amazing leadership though out the week,”said Muigua.
Uganda responded with a 4-3 victory by Reagan Akena and Peter Mayende over Kenya’s Daniel Kiragu and Isaac Makokha, while the remaining match finished halved.
Kenya extended their lead in the four-ball matches, claiming three wins with John Lejirma and Mwathi Gicheru defeating Uganda’s Elton Thembo and Amon Bwambale 3-2, while team mates Elvis Muigua with Kevin Anyien beat Uganda’s John Musiimenta and Abdul Kakeeto by the same margin.
Kenya’s Tsevi Soni and Junaid Manji produced the most dominant performance of the session, winning 5 -3 against Uganda’s Godfrey Kambale and Joseph Kasozi, while another match ended halved.
Momentum continued in Foursomes where Kenya strengthened their grip on the contest in the second foursomes’ session with Elvis Muigua and Junaid Manji flooring Uganda’s Elton Thembo and Amon Bwambale 5-3, while again team mates Daniel Kiragu and Isaac Makokha secured a 2-1 win over Uganda’s John Musiimenta and Abdul Kakeeto.
Kenya’s Tsevi Soni and Yuvraj Rajput added another point with a 3-1 victory against Uganda’s Reagan Akena and Peter Mayende, while the remaining match was halved.
Hosts Uganda fought back by responding strongly in the final four-ball session, registering three wins to keep the contest alive.
However, Kenya’s Junaid Manji and Tsevi Soni delivered a crucial 2-1 victory to maintain Kenya’s advantage heading into the decisive singles matches it seal victory in Singles and the matches ultimately confirmed Kenya’s dominance to clinch the trophy.
Honors goes to Kenyan players Daniel Kiragu who produced the standout performance with a commanding 6-5 victory over Uganda’ Joseph Kasozi, Tsevi Soni defeated Andrew Ssekibejja 2-1, Kevin Anyien edged Abdul Kakeeto 1 up, Yuvraj Rajput beat Amon Bwambale 3-2, and Elvis Muigua secured a 2 up win over Reagan Akena.
Uganda claimed several singles points through Abdullah Kakooza, Peter Mayende, John Musiimenta, Elton Thembo, and Godfrey Kambale, but Kenya’s earlier momentum proved decisive.
The Kenyan squad featured a strong blend of experienced amateurs and emerging junior talent drawn from the country’s national development pathway.
Several members of the team are part of the High Performance Program supported by The R&A, which is designed to prepare Kenya’s most promising amateur golfers for elite regional and international competition.

Elsewhere at Mt Kipipiri Golf & Resort on Saturday, Grishon Wainaina posted 35 points to emerge as the Overall winner in the NCBA Golf series that made its historic debut during the club’s monthly mug tournament.
Playing off handicap 24, Wainaina delivered a steady round to edge out a competitive field and secure the top prize at the fifth leg of the 2026 series.
Handicap 19 Victor Kidiwa returned 35 points to finish runner-up after countback separated the two, while Patrick Githinji, playing off handicap 21, matched the leaders on 35 points to claim third place.
In the ladies’ category, handicap 43 Wambui Mwangi produced a commendable performance to take the Lady Winner title after posting 30 points.
The Mt Kipipiri outing marked the first time the NCBA Golf Series has been played at the course since the club opened its doors last year, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to supporting emerging golf destinations across the country.
The fifth leg follows successful outings earlier this season at Royal Nairobi Golf Club, Kericho Golf Club, Muthaiga Golf Club, and most recently Mombasa Golf Club, as golfers continue their quest for qualification to the season-ending Grand Finale.
