GOLF-Diamonds Leisure Course to be painted white and Red at the ‘Women in Tourism’ group’s Charity Tourney this weekend;

All roads at the Coast will again be leading to South Coast in Kwale County when the Diamonds Leisure Beach and Golf Resort’s par 72 Challenging course hosts the 2023 Kenya Association of Women in Tourism (KAWT) Charity Golf tournament on Saturday, 1st, April, 2023.

Club Lady Captain Cheryl said the Course is expected to be painted white and red as the official dress code on the course while in the evening everyone will be expected to be dressed in all white color.
Bush said the tourney that comes a week after last week’s successful Lady Captain ( Vanda Harries) event has been jointly sponsored by Diani Hardware, Safari link and friends of KAWT.
She said that many Golfers have been invited including those from other Coast clubs and others from across the Country including officials from the Kenya Ladies Golf union (KLGU) among them the Union’s Coast Representative Terry Odoo.
“There will be lots of fun during the day and evening and wonderful prizes for the winners has also been lined up in the evening, “said Bush.

Golfers to watch includes home club’s Pauline Nduva who was the last weekend’s overall winner in the Club’s Lady Captain Tourney and currently in good form.
But this time round she May be expect challenges from lady rivals Caroline Mokaya,Naomi Wambui,Kerry Venturini and Grazia Del Gobbo among other home players.

Among the men to watch includes George Mokaya, Allan Habala, Long hitter Mitesh Kumar, Tony Venturini, Stefan Wentzel, Sven Kampa and Hitten Kumar.
KAWT Kwale Chapter Chairlady Pauline Nduva said an estimated 160 golfers will grace the daylong 18 holes stable ford charity tourney to raise funds for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and various outreach programme in the County.
“This will enables the association to execute its continuous mandate of empowering women at all levels of society around the County, “said Nduva.
She explained that funds raised will also go to School mentorships programmes, menstrual hygiene, supporting capacity building for local women entrepreneurs to access Blue economy grants, Mentoring local hospitality college students on soft skills and opportunities on workplace expectations among others.


Before the event, the hosted its Club nite event on Wednesday where it was a lucky day for Eva Kariuki who sank rare hole in one on hole 15th.
The daylong event was however won by off handicap 4 Hitten Kumar on 37 points having played 18 and 19 points on both nines.

Handicap 36 Pauline Nduva was the runners up on 34 points (22-14) and Harm Luttjeboer playing off handicap 25 managed the third slot with 35points.
At the par 72 Sigona Golf Club ,over 240 golfers will be flexing their muscles in the second Diamond Trust Bank’s (DTB) ‘Bank with us’ golf tournament to be played in the same day at the Club Course in Limuru, Kiambu County.

The weekend’s competition has attracted the golfers from across the region, who will take part in a four-ball tournament which is also the first golf tournament by the Bank this year.
DTB Group Chief Executive Officer Nasim Devji said they are delighted to hold their first golf tournament of the year at Sigona Golf Club and that as a bank they are keen on supporting sports in the country which helps in developing and growing talents.
“Last year, we had a very successful series of five legs, with over 400 players getting an opportunity to participate in the tournaments which also offered us an opportunity to interact and network with our esteemed customers,” said Devji.
Last year, the Bank held five successful golf tournaments in Kakamega, Mombasa, Kericho and Kisumu before culminating in Eldoret, which saw over 400 participants take part.


Some of the notable players who will be bracing for the chilly Limuru weather include George Kuria, Naveed Nanji, Stephen Ngunje, Rachael Ndei and Japheth Achola.
According to a press release from the Bank’s Public relation office,the DTB ‘Bank with us’ golf tournament aims to grow the sport as well as boost businesses by bringing services closer to its customers and offering networking opportunities.
Also, as part of DTB’s efforts to grow networks, the Bank continues to open more branches across the country.
Last week, DTB opened three new branches in Kijabe Street, Kiambu town and Baba Dogo.
The opening of the three branches pushes DTB group’s branch network to 70 branches in Kenya and 138 across East Africa.
This comes in line with the Bank’s strategic expansion roadmap, which entails providing quality customer service and easy accessibility to its diverse product portfolio.
DTB continues to provide innovative banking solutions across its growing branch network for individuals and businesses through a ‘customer-first’ approach.
At the Kenya Railway’s Golf Club, an estimated 180 golfers will be playing the Jimnah Mbaru’s golf day also on Saturday with the event teeing off from 7.40am
Ruiru Sports club will also be hosting the club’s Chairman’s Prize (Dominic Chege) in an event that starts from 6.30 am while at the Vet Lab Sports Club also in the same day from 6.30 am will be playing the April 2023 Monthly mug tournament.
