GOLF NEWS-German based Kenyan lady golfer Joyce Radtke is over the moon with a double victory celebration at Nyali.

A Combination of family holiday and playing the sport of golf blended well for a German based Kenyan Lady golfer Joyce Radtke.


She came as usual with her family including the husband Stefan Radke for a holiday to enjoy the coastal sun and also mix with her favorite sport of playing golf including meeting old friends.
Joyce is not new here, but a resident of Mombasa before relocating to German several years back in search greener pasture, she is also a member of Nyali golf and Country club who was also a former club lady Captain.


She will not miss a year with ought to come home and this time the celebration went full blast after Joyce emerged the February Medal best gross winner on 81 gross and division A winner on 70 nett winner to brighten her mood.
“It’s been a great day with excellent climate and winning two prizes today is such a blessing and Iam really excited. We as the whole family including my Husband Radtke are on holiday, and we are really happy too about today’s tournament. It has always been pleasant coming back here to play at my home club of Nyali, and will always remember the place including the many friends here. Thank you all, “said Joyce.


The Club’ former lady captains handicap 11 Mary Kandu on 72 nett and handicap 18 Teresia Odoo with 73 nett were the runners up and third placed respectively.


The daylong 18 holes’ tournament organized by the club that brought together 104 golfers from the home club and its environs, saw handicap 38 Daxaben Vekaria pump 66 nett to win the division B section while the club’s newly appointed Chairman handicap 28 Jayne Githere recorded 68 nett to claim the runners up slot and handicap 26 Joyce Kamau was third with 70 nett.


The division C group was led by handicap 41 Natallia Herter on 70 nett while handicap 24 Salome Mutano brought 71 nett to win the Best lady prize as handicap 14 Naomi Kikulu of Mombasa golf club was the guest winner with 66 nett and the best putter on 28 putts was handicap Natalia Herter.

In the February Mug, handicap 9 Duncan King’ori carded 82 gross to emerge the gross winner while handicap 12 Vishnu Dhutia was the Division A winner on 72 nett.
King’ori again grabbed his second prize of being the runners up on 73 nett while the club’s newly elected Captain Omar Lewa playing off handicap 10 was third placed on 7 nett.
Handicap 18 Raajkamal Dhanjal posted 69 nettto win the B division while handicap 17 Justine Ongere was the runners up on a count back score of 70 nett after tying on the same score with third placed handicap 17 Mwangi Mburu.


The Division C top prize was won by handicap 19 Sanjay Kotecha with a count back score of 69 nett after recording the same score with handicap 24 Michael Mbugua who was the runners up and handicap 26 Michael Songoro emerge third with 72 nett.

David Kaguru playing off handicap 32 was the Division D winner on 67 nett as handicap 38 Kabir Kakkar sat second with 73 nett while handicap 23 James Ngung’u on 75 nett and handicap 2 Kalamu Choyo were the Guest and best male caddy winners respectively.
Club Chairman Jayne Githere, flanked by her Captain Omar Lewa thanked players for turning in large numbers especially at this time of the holy month of Ramadhan when most of the members has taken a sight off following a month long fasting expected to end early next week.
The two officials urged members to continue practicing more assuring them that more corporate tournaments has been lined in the coming months.

Elsewhere at the nine hole Machakos Country club course also on the same day, handicap 19 John Kitaka brought a resounding 47 points to emerge the overall winner of the Bayer East Africa tournament that attracted 15o golfers.
Handicap 27 Patrick Marangu was the men winner on 41 points beating handicap 17 Joe Mboya to the runners up slot on a two points difference while handicap 11 Victor Mutwii was third on 38 points.
Angelina Mutuku playing off handicap 32 was the best lady after carding 37 points, one point ahead of second placed handicap 10 Mwengeli Nzioka while handicap 24 Florence Riungu with 35 points finished third.
The guest prize was scooped by handicap 22 Isaack Kamau who had a score of 39 points while handicap 3 Mathew Mutambo on 41 points and handicap 38 Purity Kioko on 40 points were the subsidiary men and Lady winners respectively.
John Kinyua playing off handicap 32 was the first nine men winner after carding 21 points and the second nine lady winner prize on 22 points was scooped by handicap 31 Anthony Mwirigi.
Vincent Musalia went home happily with the nearest to the pin prize while Nancy Kariuki and Terra Saidimu were the longest drive lady and men winners respectively.
And Joseph Kisolo completed a remarkable journey from 18th seed to champion by defeating Edgar Munene 3&2 in the finals of the 2025 Jacob’s Cup at the Vet Lab Sports club course on Saturday.
The prestigious tournament, held from March 8-22, began with a Medal Round where male Vet Lab members with handicaps of 16 and below competed for 32 match play positions.
Kisolo, playing with a handicap of 13, qualified in 18th place, while Munene (handicap 12) secured the 24th spot.
Reflecting after lifting the trophy Kisolo said, “I faced formidable opponents throughout the tournament. Jack Mureithi with his 1.3 handicap was a significant challenge, but I managed to defeat him 3&2. Gulraaj Sehmi, with his handicap of 5, proved particularly difficult. After 27 holes on Thursday, we remained tied and had to continue our match on Friday morning, where I eventually prevailed 3&1.”
Kisolo’s performance throughout the two-week event was exceptional, with his handicap index dropping significantly from 10.3 to 8.4 as a result of his consistent play.
For Munene, the result was a bittersweet repeat of history, marking his second consecutive finals defeat after also falling to Lee Njoroge in last year’s championship match.
The Jacob’s Cup, established in 1948, continues to stand as one of the most prestigious events on the Vet Lab Sports Club calendar, with Kisolo adding his name to its storied history of champions.
