Kenya Junior Golfers Junaid Manji and Bianca Ngechu have been selected to join the 2024 Congaree Global Golf Initiative (CGGI) at Scotland in this summer of the first week of August.
The duo qualified after the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) issued a call to members to submit applications for consideration to the program where 14 applications were received for the 2024 CGGI.
Eight of the applicants met the requirements and were forwarded to Congaree where Bianca Ngecu and Junaid Ayaz Manji were successful.
Executive Director Congaree Foundation Ben Grandy said they are excited to welcome Bianca and Junaid this summer and are already booked to join them in Scotland the first week of August.
“Thank you again to Junior golf foundation Kenya for your help identifying young people for this opportunity, ” Said Grandy.
JGF President Regina Gachora congratulated Junaid and Bianca for this great achievement and wished them every success in the program.
“JGF is committed to the development of junior Golf in Kenya, and College Golf is an important pathway that remains key to transitioning a junior golfer to a top amateur or professional golfer. JGF shall continue to identify opportunities in colleges and universities and share such opportunities with our members,” Said Gachora.
JGF through the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) had received an invitation to nominate players to the 2024 Congaree Global Golf Initiative (CGGI), an immersive collegiate preparatory program tailored to high School Students from the U.S. and abroad with ambitions to play Golf at the Collegiate level.
The selected participants are invited to attend an all-expense-paid, one-week summer session at Congaree.
The program is designed to provide CGGI participants with the highest level of golf coaching, academic counseling, mentorship, and ongoing support to enhance their opportunities for success when applying to college.
The majority of CGGI participants in the first four classes received golf scholarship offers from accredited four-year colleges and universities, and 95% enrolled in college.
