-This weekend will be action for the Club Captain’s (George Mokaya) Prize tournament and finally the Club Chairman’s (Lawrence Odhiambo) Prize set for next month of March.

Hilda Mugure came, displayed skill and patience to emerge the overall winner in the Lady Captain’s (Susan Mwangi) Prize Golf tournament played at the par 71 Sea front Mombasa Golf Club Course in Mombasa County over the weekend.
Playing off handicap 18, Mugure who is also the outgoing Club Lady Captain of the nearby Nyali Golf and Country Club, stood tall and unshakable in carding an excellent 37 stable ford points to claim the top spot, beating a team of 180 players.
“It has been a good day, though the rhythm across the course was challenging but my solid swings and skillful putting on the greens made my day in this tough competition. And am totally thrilled to win today. Thanks to the club, sponsors and everyone who made this tournament special. To my fellow competitors, you all played great, “said Mugure.
The 18 holes’ day long tournament was jointly sponsored by Laser Insurance Brokers, Mira Heights, Minet Insurance, NCBA Insurance, KCB, NCBA Bank, Severin, Kwal, Avion Energy, Midella Limited, Prome bank, Kericho Gold, Freedom Airlines, Stanbic Bank, Dola Group, KPC, and Friends of the Lady Captain.
It was hosted by the Club’s outgoing Lady Captain Susan Mwangi to bid farewell to the Members, Sponsors and friends after the completion of her one-year tenure in office.
Mwangi who handed over the office to her Vice Lady Captain Glady’s Kiprono, said it has been a great challenging year but full of success with help from her board members and supporters.
“We have been able to increase the Ladies membership, hosted several successful ladies’ tournament and thanks to all for making this happen. Today we have come to the end of our fantastic tournament. Big congrats to our winners, you played some amazing golf. Thanks to everyone for being part of it and to our sponsors for making the day successful,” noted Mwangi.
The club’s past Lady Captain Glady’s Kasi playing off handicap 24 was the female winner after producing 34 points while handicap 30 Constance Achila claimed the runners up slot on a count back score of 33 points, tying on the same score with third placed handicap 16 Mary Mariga who is also the Club’s past Lady Captain.
The Male winner on 41 points was handicap 18 Rishi Dodhia and the runners up slot was claimed by handicap 8 Tirus Githaiga on a count back score of 39 points, also same points with handicap 3 Eric Nyongesa who was third.
Handicap 28 Virginia Flora of Nyali Golf and Country Club brought 35 points to emerge the guest lady winner beating her club mate handicap 11 Teresia Odoo to the runners up slot by a single point difference.
Nathan Ngweno playing off handicap 0 was the Junior winner having recorded 33 points while handicap 30 Peter Macharia on 37 points and handicap 43 Irene Rob with 42 points were the high handicapper Men and Lady winners respectively.
Club Chairman Lawrence Odhiambo and Captain George Mokaya praised the outgoing Lady Captain Susan Mwangi for her exemplary team work in steering the club to great height and wished the successor Glady’s Kiprono success in running the lady’s office during this year.
Next is the Club Captain’s (George Mokaya) Prize tournament on Friday 13th and during the Valentine day on Saturday,14th, and the Club Chairman’s (Lawrence Odhiambo) will follow next month of March.
