GOLF NEWS-Purity Githui crowned queen of the course at the foothills of Mt. Kenya on Saturday.

-She clinched the ICEA LION king of the course series title at Nanyuki after emerging the overall winner in a day that saw women celebrate the ‘International day of Women.’

Home club’s Purity Githui was crowned the queen of the course after emerging the overall winner in the ICEA LION King of the course golf series golf tournament played at the Nanyuki Sports club on Saturday.
The handicap 18 Githui recorded a sterling 42 stable ford points from 22 and 20 points at the front and back nines to clinch the overall title in the handicap 5 to 28 category and carry the day that also saw Women celebrate the ‘International day of Women.’

“I was the lady winner of the same event last year and today the overall winner. What a blessed day coinciding with celebrations of the ‘The International Women day’. In fact, my game is up but will work more in my practice and I thank my four ball team, it was a lot of fun out there in the course. I also thank the club for putting up such a good day and the sponsor for bringing the series to Nanyuki. We look forward to welcome you next year, “said Githui.
The tournament featured 160 golfers and played on the day when Women were also celebrating their ‘International Women day,’ saw handicap 16 Jeff Muthoki played a 22 and 19 points in both nines for 41 points to emerge the member winner while handicap 8 Umraj Sehmi with a count back score of 36 points was the runners up after tying on the same points third placed handicap 9 Min Roka Magar.

Ngari Kibiku playing off handicap 25 brought 36 points to win the guest prize beating handicap 17 Robert Munya to the runners up slot by a two points difference.
The lady winner on 33 points was handicap 20 Anabwani Amimo and handicap 27 Becky Victor Kogo settled for the runner’s slot on 31 points.
Victor Kogo playing off handicap 22 carded 35 points to claim the staff prize while handicap 36 Andres Ngotho with 24 points emerged the junior winner.
For the handicap 29 and above category Jacob Kimani playing off handicap 39 carded 34 points from 19 and 15 points in both nines to emerge the men winner while handicap 33 Diana Anagine was the lady winner on 35 points.

Captain of ICEA LION King of the Course golf series Joe Mboya said that last year’s grand winner of the series will be participating in the 2025 Lekoa Classic at the Emfuleni Golf Estate and Heron Banks Golf and River Estate in South Africa on 28th & 29th March 2025.

The tournament followed a curtain raiser club nite played at the Nyeri golf club on Friday which received massive attendance by golfers.
The next action of the series moves to Kericho and Nandi Bears on 30th & 31st May 2025 before culminating in the grand finale at Nyali on 25th October 2025.
