GOLF NEWS-Sangoro survives tightly to shine in KeNHA Tourney at Nyali;

-While NCBA series move to Nakuru for the Second Edition in this year’s Calendar where over 100 golfers set to battle for sterling prizes and to secure coveted slots at the tournament’s grand finale later in the year;

Home Club’s Michael Sangoro survived narrowly on a two way count back to emerge the overall winner of the Wednesday Four ball Golf tournament played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club Course on Wednesday.
The KeNHA sponsored tournament that attracted some 100 golfers saw the 8 handicap Sangoro registering his maiden victory of the season after carding a count back score of 39 points to claim the lead.
“It was a tight event, playing against this unfriendly Coastal sunny heat, was not easy but Golf is Golf and it turned out to be my day. More tournament are coming to the Club and I will strengthen my training especially with putting and am sure all will be good at the Course, “said Sangoro.

He had tied on the same score with handicap 18 Gladys Mweni who was the runner’s up and third placed handicap 17 Mary Mariga, the Club’s Lady Captain.

The Gross prize was won by handicap 2 William kaguta on a one over par 72 gross while handicap 34 Winfred Ndunge of Mombasa Golf Club won the Guest prize on a count back score of 41 points and the KeNHa staff prize was scooped by handicap 10 Eng. Cleo Makau with a score of 28 points.
Handicap 29 Evans Murumba on 39 points and handicap 44 Natallia Herter with 43 points were high handicapper’s men and lady winners respectively.
Dr.Mukesh Shah playing off handicap 27 was the best first nine winner on his 22 points and the best second nine winner on 20 points was won by handicap 18 Dhanji Pindolia.

Elsewhere reports DOUGLAS MWALE-IMG KENYA LIMITED, The second leg of the highly anticipated 2024 NCBA Golf Series moves to the picturesque yet challenging par-73 Nakuru Golf Course this Saturday, 23rd March.
The daylong 18 holes tournament has attracted over 100 Amateur Golfers from around the Rift Valley region who are poised to compete for top honors, Sterling prizes and a chance to secure coveted slots at the tournament’s grand finale later in the year.

This event follows the successful Inaugural leg held earlier this month, which attracted 145 golfers at the Kenya Railways Club where Kenneth Mburu emerged victorious in the Division One category after carding an impressive 38 stable ford points.
Ronald Wekesa clinched the Division Two title with a remarkable 43 points, while Kimaita Magiri secured the top spot in Division Three with a score of 42 stable ford points.
NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora expressed excitement about returning to Nakuru Golf Club for the second leg of the series and emphasized the Club’s reputation for providing one of the most challenging yet rewarding golfing experiences in the Country.
“We are delighted to return to the amazing Nakuru Golf Club for the second event in the series. Despite its reputation as one of the most challenging golf courses in the country, it offers one of the best experiences for golfers. Building on the success of previous editions, we anticipate exceptional golfing and fierce competition from golfers in this region. This event also provides an excellent opportunity for NCBA to engage with our customers and better understand how we can support their financial needs and we therefore look forward to the event,” said Gachora.
Six of the top golfers from the Nakuru event will secure their slots to play at the Series 2024 Grand Finale in Muthaiga.
They include the Division 1 Male and Lady Winners, Division 2 Male and Lady Winners, Division 3 Overall Winner, and the Overall Junior Winner.
