GOLF NEWS-Peter Githinji claims top honors at Inaugural Standard Investment Bank (SIB) at Ruiru.

Peter Githinji emerged as the overall winner of the Inaugural Standard Investment Bank (SIB) Golf tournament after returning an impressive 42 points at the par-72 Ruiru Sports Club on Saturday.
The tournament attracted 228 golfers, bringing together corporate leaders, amateur golfers, and Club members for a day of competitive golf as SIB hosted its maiden golf day at the picturesque course.
Playing off handicap 15, Githinji produced a composed and consistent round to finish at the top of the leaderboard ahead of a strong field.
“I am delighted to win the inaugural Standard Investment Bank Golf Tournament. The course was in excellent condition, and the competition was very strong, so this victory means a lot. It is encouraging to see more corporates investing in golf because it not only grows the sport but also creates valuable opportunities for networking and building relationships. I look forward to defending my title next year,” said Githinji.
John Gitau claimed the men’s title with 40 points, edging Michael Nderitu, who finished runner-up on 39 points.
Kelvin Metto, playing off handicap three, won the gross title with a score of 74 gross, while Timothy Kariuki was crowned the guest winner after posting 39 points.
The Junior title with 39 points was scooped by Wilson Mwangi as George Kinyua claimed the Division 2 honors with a similar score
In the ladies’ competition, Rose Kagio emerged victorious after carding 37 points, beating Lucy Mwangi on countback after the pair finished level on points and Julius Kamau secured the First Nine Men’s prize after returning 20 points on the opening nine holes.
