GOLF NEWS-German golfer Radtke beats Kenyan golfers in the Mombasa cement charity tournament at Nyali;

A German golfer Stefan Radtke came for the festive season holidays but found himself beating Kenyan golfers in the Mombasa Cement charity golf tournament staged at the par 71 Nyali golf and Country club course in Mombasa county on Saturday.

The handicap 28 golfer rounded up the 18 holes’ tournament with an excellent 40 stable ford points to emerge the overall winner adding pride of the victory to enjoying the current warm coastal weather.
Radtke played alongside his Kenyan wife Joyce Masai who was also a former Lady captain of the club and both often come to Mombasa for holidays including playing golf as ardent golfers.
“I have always been playing here at this beautiful course where I and my Kenyan wife Joyce Masai are also members and today feeling so great to win this event aimed at raising funds for the needy. The weather was fantastic and I am very excited to be the winner,” said Radtke.

“It has always been good playing golf with my family here at my home club Nyali, we shall return back to Germany with good memories especially of Radtke’s win of the charity tournament,” said Masai.
Charles Kariuki playing off handicap 6 was the gross winner recording a five over par 76 gross in the day long 18 holes stable ford tournament that attracted 136 golfers from the home club, Coast golf clubs and others from across the country currently in festive holiday in Mombasa.


It was organized by Mombasa Cement to raise funds to assist the Sahajanand Special School, a Special Needs School in Mtwapa, Kilifi county that has over 1,000 special needs students drawn from various counties across Kenya.


Overall runners up on stable ford format was handicap 25 Michael Sangoro recording a four way count back score of 39 points after tying on the same points with third placed handicap 18 Tom Soigwa.
On the same score was the fourth placed handicap 29 Lee Gristwood, handicap 20 Dan Mugambi who was fifth and Thomas Wolke taking up the sixth spot.
The best senior winner on 39 points and the best junior winner with 33 points were handicap 23 Murtza Saeed handicap 12 Ally Is haq respectively.
Club Captain Dinesh Sasan praised the golfers for honoring the tournament saying it was important that the needy members of our society should often be remembered especially during the festive season and wished everyone an early merry Christmas and happy new year.
“While most us golfers have started taking their festive holidays, we pray that you enjoy as we prepare for a tight and competitive round of golf tournaments next year, “said Sasan.


Elsewhere Lea Luchivya carded 39 points to emerge the division A winner in the Mulemba homecoming golf tournament played at the Kakamega golf club on Saturday.
The tournament supported by Canary International general trading and Denri was organized by Mulembe golfing society comprising Western region golfers from across the country.
R.Busolo was the runners up with a count back score of 37 points after tying on the same score with third placed Jimmy Akhonya.
Division B winner was junior golfer Elvis Mbagaya who had an excellent day’s score of 44 points beating Charles Mwelese to the runners up spot by a five points difference as Ronald Omondi claimed the third spot on 38 points.
