Home veteran golfers William Kaguta and Susan Stokes emerge gross winners in the April Mug and Medal Golf tournament played at the par Nyali Golf and Country club in Mombasa County on Saturday.

The handicap 5 Kaguta recorded a handsome two over par 73 gross and handicap 10 Stokes returned 83 gross to claim the top gross prizes in the tournament played over Easter holidays.
I believe its hard work that has paid off and I thank you all especially my partners and the club for putting together this tournament. It’s Easter time coming to me with such a victory,” said Kaguta.


Nyali Golf and Country club organized the day long 18 holes’ tournament that attracted 105 players from the home club, Coast clubs and others from various Clubs around the Country.
It was indeed Kaguta’s day after recording 68 nett to again bag the A Division Mug prize while handicap 10 Aydan Jamal won the runners up spot on 75 nett and handicap 12 George Githinji was third with 79 nett.


Ian Marshall playing off handicap 15 took command of the B division but survived on a count back score of 71 nett after tying on the same score with runners up placed handicap 16 Dhanji Pindolia and handicap 13 Martin Wahome brought 73 nett to claim the third slot.


The division C was won by handicap 26 David Soars on 65 nett while handicap 21 Johnson Wamunyua on 68 nett and handicap 22 George Mokua with 72 nett were the runners up and third placed respectively.


Dr.J.M. Muthuuri playing off handicap 29 was the division D winner having returned 67 nett and handicap 43 Paul Kiagi claimed the runners up spot on a score of 70 nett.
The guest prize on 68 nett was scooped by handicap 38 Nick Chavda and Kalamu Choyo playing off handicap 3 played 73 nett to win the best male staff prize.

On the Medal side, the Club’s former Lady Captain Teresia Odoo playing off handicap 16 carded a count back score of 72 nett to win the division A category after tying on the same score with handicap 10 Susan Stokes who was the runners up, also bagging her second prize of the day and handicap 15 Truphena Oyaro brought 74 nett to sit third.


There was a tight race in division B when veteran lady golfer handicap 26 Alice Wahome claimed the win but on a two-way countback score of 73 nett after closing the day tied with runners up placed handicap 26 Nancy Gathungu and third placed handicap 22 Petronilah Kalee.
Beatrice Minari playing off handicap 43 easily sailed off with the division C prize when she found herself the lone winner on 69 nett.


Lady caddy Janet Ouma playing off handicap 18 went home happy with the best Lady Caddy prize on 73 nett while handicap 13 Naomi Kikulu from Mombasa Golf Club also returned 73 nett to claim the guest prize and Terry Odoo was the day’s best putter.
And at the Thika Greens Golf Resort in Kiambu County also on the same day, the four ball team of Kanini Kega, P. Maregwa, K. Mwaura and Jackline Sirai played a combined score of 148 points to emerge the team winners of the ongoing KCB tour series golf tournament.
The runners up team winners on a combined score of 142 points were the team of D. Ng’anga, J. Muhingo, H. Kimyua and A. Muita.
The top two teams from the Saturday’s action automatically booked their places in the tour’s grand finale that is slated for December 5th, 2025, but the venue will be announced ahead of the event.
The Individual overall winner was handicap 23 Dickson Kingi with a score of 48 points beating handicap 7 Anthony Mwita to the runners up slot by 8 points difference.
Jackline Sirai playing off handicap 15 was the lady winner with 43 points while handicap 21 Martin Karanja on 45 points and handicap 28 Peter Ndichu with 44 points were the guest and staff winners respectively.
