KCB FC is keen to bag maximum points when the Ruaraka based side takes on Shabana FC in a Kenya Premier League encounter at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Friday afternoon.

The bankers, who are tenth on the log standings with 30 points, were recently held to a barren draw by Murang’a Seal and this match is therefore a must win for KCB FC.

Coach Bernard Mwalala said “We need to be confident as we take on our opponents. The season is still far from over and we intend to make it to the top four. I know we are in a transitioning period, but it is time we upped our game to secure as many wins as possible.”

Mwalala who has constantly changed his midfield this season is set to pick in form Derrick Otieno to partner with Brian Ochieng and Maurice Ojwang after their recent display against Murang’a Seal.

“We have not capitalized on the chances we have created recently; I believe if we can work on that, we can win matches because our backline is solid. We have a few injury concerns, but I can confirm that the team is competitive enough to give Shaban FC a run for their money,” added Mwalala.

The backline of Haniff Wesonga, Nashon Wekesa, Francis Oduor, and Herit Mungai is expected to start for KCB as shot-stopper Festus Shikhalo keeps his position at the goalpost.

He has been impressive for the team keeping two clean sheets in his last two matches and was also the hero during the team’s last league outing where he saved a penalty.

Striker Shadrack Wamalwa is set to miss the game after sustaining an ankle injury while Victor Omondi is on a long-term injury and is set to undergo a surgery to repair a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).
