The four-ball team of Jack Songwa, Allan Muhando, Cedric Konzolo and Julius Oketch emerged victorious at the KCB East Africa Golf Tour held at Kakamega Sports Club on Saturday, returning a combined score of 112 points to claim the overall team title.
“It is such a special feeling to emerge victorious against some of the best golfers here at Kakamega Golf Course. We came determined to win, pushed ourselves as a team, and worked hard to stay ahead. Our focus now shifts to the grand finale, where we aim to bring home the overall prize,” said Songwa on behalf of the team.
Hot on their heels was the team of Victor Muhando, Phabian Isese, Jimmy Akhonya, and Emmanuel Mbakaya, who carded 111 points to secure second place in a highly competitive event that attracted 112 golfers.
Uganda’s Ben Okanya, who plays off handicap 8 was the star of the day after posting an impressive 41 points to be crowned the overall individual winner.

In the men’s category, Robertson Osongale (handicap 17) claimed top honors with 38 stableford points, edging out Ben Okumu (handicap 16) on countback.
Among the ladies, Lydia Jebichii from Nandi Bears Club, playing off handicap 16, took the top spot with 38 points followed closely by Beatrice Bisonga (handicap 22) with 37 points.
Cedric Konzolo and Lydia Jebichii won the Longest Drive contests in the men’s and ladies’ categories respectively while Dr. A. Shitseswa took home the Nearest to the Pin prize.
The junior winner was Derek Axel (handicap 49) with 37 points while Silvanus Otiendo (handicap 16) emerged as the guest winner with 30 points.
Among KCB staff, Allan Kirui triumphed with 37 points on countback, ahead of Prisca Chebet (handicap 36) who posted an equal score.
On Sunday, KCB extended its community impact through a Junior golf clinic aimed at nurturing emerging talent alongside a tree-planting exercise to promote environmental sustainability as part of the golf tour’s legacy.

Meanwhile, Trasicio Nyamu produced a stellar performance to emerge overall winner of the ‘Ukombozi’ Green Garden Estate (UGG) golf tournament held at Ruiru Sports Club on Saturday.
Playing off handicap 15, Nyamu carded an impressive 43 points to top a field of 254 golfers.
“It was one of those days when everything came together, from my drives to my putting. The course was in great shape, and the competition pushed me to give my best,” said Nyamu.
Hot on his heels was George Karanja, who claimed the Men’s Winner title with 42 points, while Paul Kiarie finished as Men’s Runner-up on 39 points.
Among the ladies, Natasha Wambui delivered a commanding performance to clinch the Lady Winner trophy with 43 points, ahead of Esther Kimani, who posted 38 points.
The sponsors’ category saw Wilson Thuo take top honors with 36 points followed closely by Stephen Moche and Erick Mwiti, both on 35 points.
Thuo, who also served as the tournament convener hailed the turnout and community spirit saying the event had grown into a signature feature on Ruiru’s golfing calendar.
Other standout performers included Sharon Nyambura who won the Guest category with 41 points and Kelvin Metto, who claimed the gross winner title with a round of 72 gross.
Junior golfer Martha Njeri impressed with 41 points while Earnest Mungai took the Junior Under-15 crown with 33 points.
The UGG winner title went to James Waithaka on 41 points, with Naomi Njenga named UGG Lady Winner.
Simon Mutinia posted a superb 44 points to take the Division 2 category while J.G. Mwangi and Kigera Kamau emerged Senior Winner and runner-up with 39 and 36 points respectively.
Kelvin Metto and Mary Wanjiku bagged the Longest Drive awards as Thomas Kinyua and Peris Kahure won the nearest to the pin challenges for the Men and Ladies categories respectively.
The event wrapped up with a prize-giving ceremony marked by camaraderie and celebration.
The club also announced a packed week ahead, featuring the Tuesday Mini Clubnite, Sam Kang’au & Martin Kiambi Tournament on Thursday, the RSC Ladies Invitational on Saturday and an NDC League match away against Limuru on Sunday.
